Ethiopian Coffee: Origin to Export
In 2024, our Head Roaster Alvin travelled to Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, visiting the Adame and Haru Suke washing stations. The visit covered the full coffee process, including selective cherry picking, washing, 12–36 hour fermentation, and drying. At the dry mill, coffees are cleaned, hulled, and graded by size, density, and color before export. The coffees sourced through Mystic Cup are produced by smallholder farmers from the Konga Cooperative.
Colombia Trip at Finca La Loma
In 2025, the Nomads team travelled to Colombia to visit our partner producer, Finca La Loma. During the visit, our CEO Abdullah and Head Roaster Alvin worked closely with Rodrigo Sánchez and his team, reviewing their coffee processing methods from selective cherry picking through to primary processing and dry milling. The team observed co-fermentation techniques with monitored pH levels, controlled drying across washed, natural, and co-fermented lots, and the use of coffee parchment as a fuel source to generate indirect heat for mechanical drying. The visit also covered export preparation and quality control protocols, providing a detailed understanding of production standards at origin.
